Child Care Services at The Arc
The Arc Child Care Services is licensed by the Texas Department of Family & Protective Services Child Care Licensing Division. We provide services for individuals ages 3-21 after school, early release days, winter and spring break, summer and drop in.

After School Hours
(Monday through Friday) - 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. - $50.00 a week
Early Release School Days
11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. - $15.00 a day
Winter/Spring Breaks
(Monday through Friday) - 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. - $100 a week or $25.00 a day
Summer Break
(Monday through Friday) - 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. - $100 a week or $25.00 a day.

Respite & Recreation Program
When a parent needs an evening out, The Arc's R&R Program is where you need to bring your child.
The R&R program is scheduled one Friday evening a month for four hours. It is a fun filled program supervised by our trained staff. The R&R program provides dinner and recreation activities at The Arc Service Center serving ages 3 years and up.

Fellowship and Adventure Program


Enjoy activities sponsored by The Arc with our staff and volunteers. Enroll in the Fellowship Time for teens and young adults or the Adventure Time for individuals age 30 and older.
You will make new friends, attend dance and cooking classes, go out for dinner, the theatre, the movies, bowling and much more.

Recreation Events
The Arc has several monthly activities for ages 15 and older planned by our Recreation Committee. There is bingo, dances, sporting events and lots more. Check our monthly calendar for current events. If you have never attended any of our social functions call The Arc at 692-2303 for details.
Van Transportation for Recreation Events
We provide transportation for citizens with intellectual and developmental disabilities to attend some of our social activities. All participants’ applications must be approved. Click here for the application.
Special Education Mentoring Program
If you need assistance and support regarding your child enrolled in special education services The Arc can help you to become informed on the laws of specials education and attend your child’s Admission Review and Dismissal meeting. For more information call The Arc at 692-2303.
Training Workshops & Information/ Referral Services

People First – Self Advocates
Self-advocacy refers to an individual’s ability to effectively communicate, convey, negotiate or assert his or her own interests, desires needs, and rights. It involves making informed decisions and taking responsibility for those decisions. (VanReusen et al., 1994)
The Arc of Wichita County sponsors a self-advocate group, People First for citizens with intellectual and developmental disabilities ages 18 and older. Our People First group is affiliated with Texas Advocates who is recognized as a leader in self-advocacy in Texas. (Michelle has a group picture we can use for this section.) Become a member of this organization, participate in community projects, and learn how you can advocate for your personal goals and for better services and supports for people with disabilities to be a part of their community.
